Picture word search that can be used to reinforce vocabulary. As no word bank is included, students have to find out themselves (or in small groups) what the words are before they can search for them.

Word searches with word banks are pretty useless (I could do one in Swahili). In this word search, students have to come up with the names of the animals before they can start searching. A good way to enhance both vocabulary and spelling (not to mention detective skills ;-).

I like to challenge my students with this kind of activities. Work very well with kids and adults as well. Personally, I like to make the word search bigger like a poster and you can give them the words in sets of 3 or 5. Competition is always a good resource.
