Vocabulary list

  • toy soldier: a toy soldier, usually small and made of green plastic
  • piggy bank: a container for money that looks like a pig
  • toy car: a toy car. Sometimes they are 'remote controlled' - they can be driven using a device with buttons on
  • astronaut: a person who goes into space
  • cowboy: a person, usually American, who works on a farm. They often wear a big hat, have a lasso (rope) and sometimes carry pistols (guns)
  • Mr Potato Head: a popular toy that looks like a potato - different features (eyes, nose, mouth etc) can be stuck on in different ways
  • globe: a round map of the world
  • walkie-talkie: from the words 'walk' and 'talk', a walkie-talkie is like a mobile phone, but can only speak to another walkie-talkie.
