Rules For the Simple Past Tense

Sad stories are good, they humanize us. They increase our empathy bandwidth. It's good to humanize and teach English at the same time. This little story is good for a past tense review and it introduces new vocabulary. More importantly, it will touch the hearts of your students.

Divide the class into small groups (no more than 6), so that the students can compete against each other, earning points for each correct answer.


When a student answers a question correctly, ask him/her one more question, to reinforce grammatical knowledge on the topic.

This is the second presentation that I have made about the past simple tense. The first on was the Back to the Future themed one. I wanted to try a slightly different style with this one. There are Wordwall activities built into the slides. 

The Past Simple Tense

This is a presentation of the 12 Labours of Hercules for a class of first grade Primay students so they had a general idea before doing a project, a comic, on each of the labours. The labours are adapted for them, so I kept them to a minimum regarding characters and actions.



The teacher can prepare comprehensive questions according to the level of the students.
