PPT, How can we omit relative pronouns when we cannot omit them in a normal way? Here is the answer!!! Different options to omit those pronouns when we are in those cases in which we would not normally omit them. Enjoy it :)

RELATIVE CLAUSES part 2

Divide sts into two teams (A and B). Assign each member of the teams a number (e.g., S1, S2).

Read out the first sentence without saying the preposition (e.g., “I always get up [BLANK] 6 a.m. on weekdays.”). S1 from each team runs to find the card containing the missing preposition. The first S to reach the correct card gets a point for his or her team.

Play the game until you use all the sentences. The team with the most points wins.

Variation 1: Use this game to review prepositions of place or time, modals, and auxiliaries (e.g., do, did, have).

Variation 2: If sts cannot move freely around the room, they can point to the correct wall.

I use this powerpoint for my kindergarten students to help them identify house vocabulary, to practice the structure. They can  practice speaking by asking and answering questions. Normally ı don't use any letter as they cannot read. But ı wrote them for you to see. İf you want, you can delete the sentences from the powerpoint.

My students absolutely love this game - you can play it with whatever words come to mind. It's a great warm-up or a filler... So how to play (you surely know it, but...)



1. Students are divided into teams (the best is when there are 3 or 4 people in one group but it's also bad to have more than 5 teams.. you won't be able to control them - but you may also put some students to control the others). 

2. One person from the team turns his back to the black/white board.

3. You can write the words with a chalk/marker or project them on the board.

4. FOR THIS GAME Students who can see the board say the infinitive, the one who can't see the board say the past tense. 

FOR ANOTHER GAMES, with different words - more advanced students describe the word in English, lower levels say the word in their native tongue and the one who cannot see the board say the English version.



They don't have to say the whole sentences, it's just to help them understand what verb it should be.



The solution is in the last slide so that you don't have to think hard what the pictures mean :-)



5. Who says (actually... shout. lot of shouting. be prepared for that) the correct word receives one point for his/her group.

past simple game

The same vocabulary as in Say the Word 1, but in a different order. A simple game to practice vocabulary and speaking. The students are divided into groups (the size of the groups depends on the number of students in your class). The first group starts by sending one student to the front of the classroom. This student is standing in front of the class, facing the rest of the students from his group so that he cannot see what is on the screen behind him. The teacher (or a students from one of the other groups) starts the presentation and measures 2 minutes (or some other amount of time). The students from the first group, who can now see the first word on the screen, are trying to explain it to the one who is facing them and cannot see it. They cannot use any words that contain the same root. When the student guesses the word, the teacher clicks and the next word appears. For each correctly guessed word, the team gets a point (It is a good idea to mark the points after each correctly guessed word with a short chalk line on the blackboard). If the students do not know the meaning of the word or cannot think of a way to explain it, they can say „next“ and skip that particular slide, but they can do this three times at most. After two minutes, the teacher says „the time is up“ and counts all the points. Then it is the second team’s turn. After all teams have had a go, the next round can start. The vocabulary in this particular presentation is at A1, A2 or occasionally B1 level.

A student has to stand with the screen behind and the other classmates have to describe the word without saying any of the forbidden words. Remind them that they cannot use a word in the plural if the word in singular is written.

You start with the task where students should guess modal verbs, then you have to explain what is a modal verb (the definition) and then speak about their usage in details.
