A selection of English ESL dictation ppt slides

Students work in groups of 3 or 4 (even in pairs). One person in the group has to dictate a text which is hung on a wall of the classroom but mustn't take that paper, which means they have to run back and forth and memorise chunks of the text to dictate to the people in the group. The first group to have the whole text written down with less than 5 mistakes, win the race.

Numbers Dictation

This slide can help you send to your students audios to make a short dictation about jobs. I used voicemaker to get the audios. You can get free audios in this page. The students can work on the computer or in their notebooks. If you want you canadd pictures about the job to help students to undestand the activity. The voices are from male, female and kids to get to the learners a good listening exercise. The sentences are witten in present simple, they are short and clear. A pair of audios have two sentences in the same track. I think this kind of activity help your learners to improve their listening skills.  This activity can be used in class, if you send it to students and you give them some time to finished. 

Dictation about Jobs

My students requested dictation.  I did a couple different levels of difficulty, and this one is fairly difficult.  I ask them to write down each saying in English and then verbally translate it to Spanish and then, beyond the literal translation, what the real meaning is.  They liked some of the sayings, weren't impressed with others.
