Teaching the alphabet to adult ESL students is tricky but it doesn’t have to be. In this post, I will outline how to teach the alphabet to adult students, the challenges teachers face and the resources available to teach this topic. Also, I’ll discuss ideas for group and one-on-one lessons and activities to make this topic more challenging for more advanced learners.

How to use these lessons to teach the alphabet

Off2Class has prepared a three-part lesson plan that will help your student master the English alphabet in no time. These lessons can be used with beginner ESL students and modified for more intermediate students.

Lesson 3 introduces spelling exercises to challenge your student’s existing knowledge of each letter. It can also be used as a review lesson for more intermediate students.

If you want additional lesson plans and support, including teachers’ notes, be sure to register for a free Off2Class account.

The present downloadable handout is meant for at Beginner (pre-A1) and Intermediate (B1) level. It is a valuable material for developing your class' Spelling skills. It focuses on the vocabulary topic of Alphabet.
