How to write an opinion essay

This is a workshett to practise the use of vocabulary about the environment. First students have to match words with their definitions or synonyms, and next use some of those words in context.

I give the article for homework. The next class we do the "Are you green?" survey for a warmer, then we talk about the article and do the article exercises. 


Afterwards students work in pairs or in small groups to do the activities.  Students were particularly creative with this role-play.

My students complain that ecology is a very boring topic. To help them survive another lesson about it, I have prepared a set of 22 "crazy" questions concerning ecology, e.g. ´Deforestation is a serious problem nowadays. Would you agree to use reusable toilet paper to solve it?´ This task can also be used to practise 2nd conditional.

Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
