This worksheet was made to accompany a unit focusing on comparatives. It is a listening activity with loose links to the grammar through one word- happier. Still it's Ed Sheeran!

Fun Facts About the USA 

A worksheet with gap-fills designed to show learners several different ways to express the same things. It asks learners to compare modes of travel and express their preference.

Which is the best way to travel?

This sheet is good for practicing adjectives and comparatives of different gadgets and small daily items. 

This is a supplementary material when it comes to demand high for lower level students. There isn't much grammar guidance but this could leave some boarding space for teachers to use it in their own way. 

I did not provide answers but should be quite obvious.

Beginner - Pre-elementary comparatives with pictures

Students are asked to write 2 sentences for each pair of pictures. They can help themselves with the adjectives given. On the 1st page, the second sentence has to contain "less", while on the 2nd page it has to contain "not as...as". A very simple class discussion can follow

Chart - Tornado x hurricane

Tornadoes

Tornadoes occur in most parts of the world. However they are most frequent over the continental plains of the USA.



Tornadoes are typically identified as a funnel of spiraling air descending from the base of clouds to the earth. The tornado is usually narrow, about 1/2 km wide and rarely does it move more than 20 km.



Like hurricanes the precise mechanism of how the funnel forms in not understood.



Hurricane

Tropical Storms start within 8º and 15º north and south of the equator where surface sea temperatures reach 27ºC. The air above the warm sea is heated and rises. This causes low pressure.



The weather system generates heat which powers the storm, causing wind speeds to increase. This causes the Tropical Storm to sustain itself. Tropical storms rely on plenty of warm, moist air from the sea - this is why they die out over land.

The difference between tornadoes and hurricanes

This is for practicing the comparatives taller, older, bigger, heavier, stronger, and faster. It uses the Pixar characters Mike, Sully, Maui, and Moana. Students can choose to answer with names or pronouns, and it can be used as a speaking or writing (on a separate piece of paper) exercise.

Enable learners to form comparative of adjectives, through restaurants ads. The learners will interpret the ads and do the planned tasks. They' learn comparatives of short, long and even irregular comparative as practice task, as they'll spot mistakes in the use of the comparative while reading a passage.
