Levels elementary or higher than this one. It is good to practice simple past and the vocabulary related to the sequence with Mr. Bean. Also, it provides a few questions about traveling by plane

Students watch a video with a short biography about John Lennon. After that they have to choose a famous person, write a simple biography and make a similar video

Writing a biography

This is intended as a graded practice for students to understand the difference between these two tenses. First students do some revision work on the Past Simple (they write down the past form of the verbs supplied - they can even practise sentences orally). Then they use the same picture and verbs to write sentences in the past continuous. Finally both tenses are mixed. Key is included.

Past simple and continuous

Students read the short story about Levi Strauss, then answer the true or false sentences. In the second part they have to complete the sentences using the past simple or past continuous. I have included the key.

Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well
