This is a reading comprehension worksheet. Students have to fill in the gaps in the text, complete the fact file and write true of false. The answer key is given.

This worksheet includes a variety of famous people around the globe. Some have already passed away and others are still alive. The aim of this exercise is to print out the worksheet and cut each square individually. After you have done that, you can use the cut outs as a name tag to each student. You can tell your learners to assume the identity of the person on the tag, then they will have to tell their names, the place they were born and when they were born. This is to promote speaking and the use of the past simple tense of the verb to be (was-were). If you have any other suggestions for this worksheet, feel free to comment. This worksheet copies the format of one uploaded by another ISLCollective user PhillipR, but with new sentences to be used if students need more practice for when to use the words Am,Is.Are, Was, Were, Do, Does, and Did.  This is an excellent practice activity that helps students learn when to use the Present Simple and Past Simple as well as the correct form of "to be" or the helping verb "do." Hand out the Student A and Student B worksheets to each student in your class and have them fill in the correct word, after checking their answers, have Student A pair with Student B and have them ask each other the questions, allowing for good conversation between the students.
