SIMPLE PAST TENSE

Here are some reading comprehensions and exercises to practise the past simple tense: there's gap fill, correct the errors, unscramble the words, write up the paragraph from a series of pictures. There is a full key on page 2, which could be used as part of the exercise, or to model similar activities. I love this template, which is by PhilipR.

This is a fun activity to practice using Past Simple Tense. Change each vocab into Past Form. Listen to the song and fill in the gaps. Match the phrases and translate each sentence in your own language.

If Chuck Norris could spell all these words correctly- using a calculator- and blindfolded- certainly you can with a pencil or a pen. This chart practice should enable students to spell the past tense of regular verbs correctly.

5 exercises: A fill in the gaps exercise to complete the famous story of the Hare and the Tortoise using the verbs in the simple past.

Exercise 1 - Complete the story with the verbs in the simple past;
Exercise 2 - answer the questions about the story;

Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
