Past Simple Exercises

A funny anecdote about a dinner invitation. It is of course, absolutely true, it happened to me. It was a clear water experience, if you get my meaning;-) They read the passage and answer the questions and then they can discuss dinners they have attended, or what they would do in that situation.

This is a summary of an incident which was in the news last Wednesday. A student was arrested for throwing eggs at King Charles. News articles often contain a lot of passives, so there is a passive voice activity and some comprehension questions. Full key included and a link to the original article from The Times.

it's a funny song to practice tenses, it has a nice rhythm , the students love to learn the song, it's a simple song for beginners and pre-elementary students, it's advisable to do it as a warm up activity or an ice breaking one
