A simple writing template for students to complete on the weekends. It has worked well with my older elementary school students to move away from writing simple 1 sentence descriptions of their weekends.  

Weekend Diary Template

A reading passage about a lady who has put weight on during the lockdown. She started the Scarsdale Diet, but struggled with it a bit. They put the verbs in brackets into the past simple tense and answer the questions. Key provided. if I still had my ladies' group, we would do this and have a laugh. But I lost them due to funding cuts:(

Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well
