Love's in the air - conversation cards

A word search puzzle & answers designed to build vocabulary in English.  Students need to find 10 hidden synonyms or words with the same meaning as bad.  This exercise can be used to improve spelling, build vocabulary and as a warmer or filler.  As a follow-up task, you may want to ask students to write sentences or phrases using the words in the word search.

A great listening/video exercise to get your students discussing both viral challenges and nature/environment.  Good lead in to a discussion about recycling.

This is a worksheet to be done in pairs or small groups of three or four. You can cut this story up in various ways, grading the exercise to the level you are teaching.

NOTE - I advise keeping a printed copy for yourself as it can be hard to piece it together yourself- particularly if constrained by monitoring more than one group or pair of students!

Oral communication - Working with caricatures

This is a listening/fill in the blanks activity for the Radiohead song No Surprises.  This song has a slow tempo, but the meaning of the lyrics is a little difficult.

Group students in pairs, trios or groups of four by using these cartoon characters. You can laminate the cards, cut them out, shuffle, distribute randomly. and then, ask them to find their pair/trio/group, by finding the characters who belong together.

In this exercise students are expected to fill in the blanks in conditional sentences. They are going to practise 1st, 2nd, 3rd and mixed conditionals. There are no keys to this exercise. The teacher can assign if as  homework or it can be good revision before an exam.

There is a picture and vocab match to prepare Ss for some of the language used. Next they read the quotes on the other side of the page and then listen and order them as they do. The second time they listen they need to say which topic each quote is related to and finally they fill in the blanks. 



Then they should be encourage to use some of the language from the video and discuss the topics themselves in pairs.
