This is a worksheet based on a video about our galaxy, the Milky Way. There are two listening comprehension exercises (gap-fill and True/False) and a vocabulary exercise (students complete a number of sentences using the words given in a box). Answer Key provided. 

The Milky Way

A worksheet for a intermediate-advanced class on the topic of the solar system. Show the short documentary (youtube link on p2 of the worksheet) and then students answer the True or False quiz questions, which can be made into a competition for the best team.

Play the video a couple of times and then do the worksheet with your students. You can play the video again if necessary. Very good to practice space vocabulary and the names of the different planets.

Activity 2 - Terrestrial planets: don't have rings, surfaces are solid, made of rocky material, very few moons, relatively small.

Jovian planets: no solid surface, have multiple moons, immense in size, support ring systems.

Solar System Worksheet (Video Lesson)

The worksheet focuses on a TED video by Phil Plait, who talks about the importance of mistakes in science. There are questions which require short written answers, and there are some discussion questions at the end. The worksheet is the first page of the document, the rest is the key, the link and the transcript. I suggest warming up with a short question: "Are mistakes always bad?"
