This article is aimed at my first-year students. 
I convert the article to pdf format, as the student’s device doesn’t need MS Word installed for it to display or print.

Send or give the article to the student to read aloud to you. Maybe ask a few simple questions, make them one- or two-word answers; just be aware that some students will read a whole paragraph knowing that the answer is somewhere in it.

Finally ask the student to read the article again and while you correct their pronunciation, as necessary.
