Instructions:

1.	Put the students in groups of three or four.

2.	Each group gets two sets of cards. One with words in bold and one normal.

3.	They shuffle each set and spread each set separately, facing down.

4.	Students take turns. The first student takes one card from each set. If they match, He/she makes a sentence using however/although/but/etc.

5.	His/her groupmates should confirm the sentence is correct. If it is, he/she keeps the cards. If not, he/she puts them back.

6.	When the cards finish, the student with the most cards wins.



•	It’s a good idea to remind the Students to remember the place of the cards. It helps the game to flow smoothly.

•	Remind the students to use the correct verb tense. In most cases, simple present or simple past works.

Connectors practice: first the students have to put the correct connectors into the gaps, then they have to create sentences using the other connectors on a variety of topics. The topics are based on the potential topics in the FCE writing exam. 

B2 Connectors Practice - Whereas, While, However, Moreover, etc.

Start by going over the difference between dependent and independent clauses. Then complete the exercises on although or however with a short explanation. The answer keys are connected and quite detailed.

Students will ask the given questions to two of his/her friends and fill the chart accordingly.Then they will compare answers of those two friends by using connectors like "and,but, however,although"

Linking Devices with Sports (and,but,however,although etc.)

The exercise checks students' grasp of common connecting words and phrases. Students choose between two options to complete the sentences. Great practice before exams!
