This is an “English as a second language” short story for kindergarten students. Some of my little students like to read short stories, so I wrote this story for them. After I read the story to them, I explain the words that they might not be familiar with.  Then, I ask questions about the story.  Most of the time they ask me questions about it.

Their questions give me ideas about their interests and I base my next story on those interests.

This is a simplified version of Battleship, in which one chooses a color and type of clothing: shoes, pants, socks, shirt or sweater. The top (Toby) is the opposing team; the bottom (Kate) is the home team. Choose one color for each category of clothing. Then, each turn have one team ask the other if they have one color + one article of clothing. Circle is yes, X if no. First time to get all 5 wins.

Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
