It is a domino based game to practice the use of modal verbs for obligation and prohibition (can,can't, have to). The activity is designed to drill the use of the modal verbs in a fun and enjoyable way. The students can play it in pairs.

School rules

A4 sheet of paper with written classroom rules. It can be printed on a colorful sheet of paper (I did it on red) and serve as a motive for students to learn and not be afraid of it.  

This list is a modification of the existing one (link below). I wanted my rules to be 1) readable enough 2) universal 3) more or less understandable 4) editable for other users



If the students cannot understand them because of the language complexity, you can do as I do: hang the sheet on the wall, pick the first three rules, translate them into your tongue and have them write your translations down. Repeat the routine for the following rules at the start of the next lesson.

Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
