Worksheet details
worksheet summary
Students always enjoy this game. Here´s a worksheet for the classic ranking game where Ss have to agree on the items to be saved from a shipwreck, and rank them in order of their importance. Great for a warmer or icebreaker, or if you have unplanned time left at the end of the class. You can practice argumentation and the language of recommendations, too (Why don´t we ...? We should ...; We had better ...;). Once you checked the solutions, even if the Ss got them wrong, it´s good to announce that they have been found and rescued. Luck is important in life! :) Using the official US Marine Corps items and solutions I rewrote the scenario a little bit, and created a simple, nicely formatted and usable worksheet for ESL/EFL classes.

Having Fun
This role play will get students animated as they imagine they try to save themselves in this accident situation. It's not fun in the sense that students will be laughing, but fun because it will put students into an imaginary situation away from the reality of the classroom and will make them engaged.

Critical thinking
Students have to critically evaluate their available tools to decided which of them are the most critical to their survival.
