After the picnic at the park, the O'Malley family heads home. On the way, the parents have a short conversation (it's a one-page story!) about what they should eat.

After students read this (generally as homework), I ask how they plan their meals. If they can go shopping at the last-minute on a Sunday (in Germany, a lot of shops are closed) and if it's better to have a weekly plan of meals to cook.

The above downloadable teaching material is best suited for at Elementary (A1) and Pre-intermediate (A2) level. It is useful for developing your students' Reading skills. It features the topic and words of Daily routines, Family and Food.

I taught because I couldn't find another job in Germany, and years later I realized I liked it and wanted to get better at it. Consequently, I'm not as good a teacher as I should be at ten years experience.
