It can be used for practicing possessives and family vocabulary. The teacher could begin by writing the word FAMILY on the board and asking students to say as many words as they can connected to family, trying to refresh students' family vocabulary. Then SS, individually or in pairs, try to fill in the family tree. After the teacher checks the correctness of the first exercise, SS can solve the second one. After having checked the second exercise, too, the teacher can ask SS to write down all the words written in bold (family members vocabulary) and add their real family members names corresponding to the word (e.g. cousin=Maria, grandfather=John, etc.)
