This ppt was created for my third grade online ESL speaking class. Times are shown with analog clocks. The students practice telling time using: o'clock, a quarter past, half past, a quarter to.

This is a practice game for very basic ss. The templete was downloaded from esl games. It has 29 sentences that the teacher uncovers in turns. Ss must make the question to match the sentence.

Questions and short answers

One student is sitting with their back to the screen. They choose a number from 1 to 15. Everybody else sees the picture of the character - the character that student has to guess. To do so the student asks general questions (yes or no questions) to the audience, they can answer only 'yes' or 'no'.
 Examples of questions: Am I a human? Do I have two legs? Am I from a cartoon?

Asking questions effectively

By answering "Have you" questions students are able to review the simple past and the present perfect tense of verbs. Students are challenged to answer questions in both the simple past and present perfect tense.

How to answer "Have you..." questions

Students must answer the questions. The activity asks "What time is it?", they've got 3 options. Each question has 2 possible answers. They can also practice orally in pairs.

The student will be provided with a statement like, "Joe is sad." The student will then be invited to ask, "Why is Joe sad?" This is a basic exercise to help students understand that the verb "to be" is used when asking questions about situations involving adjectives.
