There are many false friends and polysemous words out there. Czechs for instance, sometimes have a hard time differentiating words in English. Instead they have a tendency of using a familiar sounding/spelled word in their own language to refer to other non-related words. When they misuse these words, in English, they often lack appropriacy. Some examples of this are words like receipt and recipe. Other words Czechs mix up are boss instead of chef  and cuisine instead of kitchen.



Flaws in pronunciation such as /v/ sounds substituted for /w/ are also sticking points that need addressing.



In this PPT we plan to give students a chance to distinguish between these misconceptions. We also aim to provide some spoken practise with the words in context of eating habits at work, home and elsewhere.
