Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>

This is a worksheet aimed at lower levels. the students have to rearrange the words to make a correct sentence, paying particular attention to whether it is a positive or negative sentence or a question.

Jumbled Sentences

This is to practice the English sentence structure (Subject - Verb - Object - Adverb - Preposition).

Cut out the strips, then cut into pieces. Mix up the pieces of each sentence, and have students put the words in the correct order.

If students have some knowledge of English, you can practice making new sentences by replacing the words in each.

Sentence Structure & Word Order

The students read the sentences and then correct the mistakes. There is at least one mistake in each worksheet, in some sentences there are more than one mistake. Two worksheets per piece of A4 paper to save printing and paper costs but can be cut and paste onto one sheet. Answers given.

This resource has been designed to help students with semantics. The cards can be used to reorder sentences to they make sense.


For beginner students, start with only the Who? and Doing? cards and slowly introduce different orders and cards.
