Listening corner - A visit to Florida

Students complete an airport announcement board by listening for the missing information. Then, they listen to a conversation between a check-in assistant and a passenger and decide if the statements are true or false. Finally, they listen to two more airport conversations and choose one of two options in each sentence.

At the Airport Listening Test (A2)

Students fill in the missing airport announcement information. Then, they select one correct answer from three to solve the airport problems. After that, they match the statements about the flights to the track numbers. Finally, they decide if the statements about the baggage claim problem are true or false.

At the Airport Listening Test B1

Students practice listening comprehension on the theme of airports. They listen to airport announcements and conversations at check-in, customs, and arrival. This gives them a diverse range of tasks concerned with airport travel.

At the Airport Listening Practice (A2)

Intermediate B2 students fill in missing information for airport announcements, answer true or false to a series of questions based on a check in conversation, and match the statements to the tracks for 4 cabin announcements.

At the Airport Listening Test (B2)

Students complete three listening tasks, which are all cloze activities and that take place in an airport. They will hear airport announcements, a check-in conversation, and other dialogues between passengers and airport staff.

At the Airport: Listening Practice (B1)

Students learn vocabulary related to commercial airplane travel and then complete reading exercises to reinforce these words. Finally, there is a listening exercises that focuses on the vocabulary used throughout the worksheet. The link for the listening exercise is provided.

On an Airplane B2 Vocabulary/Reading/Listening

Students listen to a recording of two male passengers going through an airport security check. They complete a true or false exercise first, and after that there is a gap-filling exercise that uses the same audio. 

Airport Security Check (Listening B1/B2)

Students listen to a conversation at an airport departure gate where the gate agent is having problems with angry passengers whose flight has been cancelled. Students complete two exercises worth six marks each. The entire worksheet is graded out of 12.

Airport Problems (B2 Listening Task)

Students listening to two conversations: the first, a flight attendant greeting and directing passengers to their seats, and the second, a flight attendant serving drinks and snacks. Students answer a true or false task and then complete a gap-filling task.

Learners taking the C1 Advanced exam should be able to: Express ideas fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
