An activity to help students practise the past simple passive voice.



Learners first must try select the correct verb for each gap and the change the verb from the base infinitive into the passive voice in the past simple.

Finally, learners self correct their answers by watching the video above.



Depending on nationality and first language, special attention should be paid to the pronunciation of ‘ed’ past participles.

Spread My Wings_Fill in the gaps of the song

Song activity for pre-intermediate students and above. I suggest asking students to read the lyrics and fill in the gaps before listening to the song  according to what they think. Then, they listen to the song and check. It's a fun activity that works as a warm-up as there is no specific topic associated with it.

Give the students to listen to the pop song, great legendary and cheerful hit from a band called Wham!: "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go", song written by the legendary music icon George Michael (link to YT included) and they ought to fill the VERBS in. Not for very young pupils (the song itself for sure, though)! Fully editable.

Fill in the gap listening worksheet for VERBS. Aside from the topic, it is a good exercise for practicing listening and oral production through singing. The lyrics in the song are very clear and easy to follow.
