This is a discussion, reading and video/listening activity on the topic of culture and language, It begins with some pictures, quotes and prompts to encourage discussion on the relationship between language and culture and how it can affect Ss learning. Followed by a reading with a variety of comprehension tasks and ending with a video also with different tasks for before, during and after. There is an optional set of comprehension Qs on the final page which can be swapped for the True/False activity if you have very strong Ss.

This song was created for pre-intermediate to advanced students. It works with vocabulary, indefinite articles A / AN and in the end students are lead to answer critical thinking questions.

There   is   a   youtube   link   plus   questions to   answer   plus   new   words   ( translated  into   Russian  ). A speaker  is  funny  and is  talking clearly.

Inner-city culture is shown in a positive way in this video.  My pages introduce the plot, the characters, and some of the slang and idioms used.  These pages should be used before watching the video, but may be reviewed after.  A writing assignment can be added.
