"New Year's Resolution" is a text that can be used for comprehension. It includes some exercises and an essay topic. It introduces the idea of the New Year's Resolution and it can be used around Christmas-time as a relevant topic.

New Year's Resolutions 

An enjoyable organizer that could be used as a brainstorming tool to get students to think about their new year's resolutions. It is a word document so you can change the year. 

Four students talk about themselves and their resolutions. They have to read and then answer the questions. Then, they have to think about their own resolutions. I like this layout, which I have used before for ambitions and superheroes.

The students look at the pictures and say what they are going to do and what they are not going to do this year.

This worksheet can be used with any kind of student, even with adults.

New Year's resolutions

A reading passage about a boy who makes some resolutions. Then, two exercises, including true or false. This is an updated version of a ws I uploaded in 2014. Hopefully this will give them food for thought!

Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
