What are they doing?

This downloadable handout was created for elementary school students at Pre-intermediate (A2) level. It is valuable for consolidating Present continuous (progressive) tense in English.



This picture has been doing the rounds recently. Students have to find what is going on in it that is not right or silly. The twelve mistakes are pointed out on the second page. This worksheet provides practice for basic structures including there is and there, some plurals of nouns, prepositions of place and the present continuous tense.

What is wrong in the picture? Family from the 1950s

Two absolutely beautiful pictures to practise basic structures: colours, prepositions, there is/are and  present continuous tense. This is a reading exercise. The students have to read the sentences and decide which picture is being described. In that old phrase: which witch is which?;-) There is a key. I sure think we have had plenty of halloween material to choose from but I could not resist one more;-) I hope it will be useful.

This song can be a good idea to review some vocabulary related to holidays as well as present continuous tense. 1st- they watch the video with no lyrics in it and answer the questions and complete the song. 2nd- they watch the video in the karaoke version and check their answers.

PRESENT SIMPLE AND CONTINUOUS

A nice picture and sentences to practise some basic constructions as well as the present continuous tense. I do the exercise and ask them to correct the false sentences. Then I just show the picture and ask them to write as many true sentences as they can. It's a breakfast scene so it could be linked to a food topic.

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well
