This boardgame is a speaking activity for beginner students who meet for the first time and get to know each other.  They have to talk and ask questions about basic and easy topics such as hobbies, family, favourite things, house...

I designed it for my adult students but it can be used with teenagers as well.

WHAT'S THE QUESTION

This is a fun grammar-focused game with vocabulary as a bonus.



The objective of this board game is to practice Wh- questions (What, When, Where) in the present simple, and also to familiarize students with family vocabulary.



When students land on a space, they use the sentence provided to form a WH- question (What, When, or Where) based on the question in bold.





Wh- Questions Board Game with Family Vocabulary - Present Simple

This is an interview game. Students interview their classmates by asking 'When is your birthday?' They then write the interviewee's information on one of the cupcakes. When the students are done, they then color the cupcakes using the month/color chart at the top of the page. It is a good way to hit the target point as well as review months and colors.

When is Your Birthday Interview Game

This is an interview game. Students fill out the worksheet and create their ideal school schedule while keeping in mind the question 'What do you want to be?'. When finished, they should interview a partner about the partner's school schedule then input that information into the correct space.

Class Schedule Interview Game (Target Grammar: 'What do you have on...?'

This is a simple 'Where are you?' board game. Students can work in pairs or small groups. They should take turns rolling a die and moving their game piece (eraser, pencil, etc.) When they land on a space, the other stududents can ask 'Where are you?' and the student should respond with 'I'm. at the ~.' The first one to the finish line wins.

In this game, students roll a dice and have to choose the right "wh" question to move forward. The first student to get to the last question wins the game. Have fun!

"WH" questions board game

Battleships game. Pupils mark the positions of the ships on their grid and they have to guess the position of their partner's ship by asking Wh- questions. There are suggested answers in the grid, but in principle, pupils should create affirmative answer for a hit and negative answer for a miss.

This is a board game for beginners.  Pupils must roll the dice and move the number of squares  indicated. They will answer questions, count to 30, name a feeling, say a colour, use the verb BE, say the months, mime an action, sing a song in English.  When they land on a square "jump", they follow the arrow bringing them either forward or backwards.

Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well
