lesson about making plans.  contains 4 schedules for a mingling activity where students must make plans with each other and fill up their schedules. also contains two dialogues and a lesson plan.  i used it for mixed level high school boys in a class of 36.  

Making plans conversation lesson 

The following activity will help your students practise Future Time clauses. They may work individually/in pairs/groups, Students should take the cards and complete the sentences about themselves.

Future time clauses - Cards

Conversation worksheet. Students are presented with 12 characters and must choose only 5 to take with them to a new planet to restart humanity. Then they must compromise with their partner to choose 5, and then again in a group of 4. (Pyramid discussion).

Each character has positive and negative points, such as the racist farmer/hunter, or the violent chemist. 

Written by a native English speaker and useful for multiple purposes (descriptions, law and order, civilisation, debate techniques, suggestions, opinions, comparative adjectives, superlatives etc.)

Contains instructions and also a possible follow-up activity in which students role-play being on a damaged hot-air balloon approaching a desert island, and students must argue to their peers why they will be useful. Then there is a vote on who will be cast into the ocean!

Conversation: Moving to a New World

1) pupils make their own horoscopes for all zodiac signs. It can be only one sentence containing will structure.

e.g. You will win 1, 000 dollars. 

2) Then they ask one another :"What is your horoscope for my sign (cancer)?"

3) Pupils have to note the name of the person they ask and his/her answer in a first person form: I will win 1,000 dollars.

4) I hope you enjoy this activity as we did. 



Zodiac signs and horoscopes (and future with will))

This game is aimed to practice “will” and “be going to” in speaking. Each student gets a category and the card to write his predictions about his/her classmate.  Students should be very imaginative and make up funny predictions.

Future Simple - Fortune tellers

This game is to practise the Future Simple Tense questions and short answers. Students draw the ships on their boards and then they start ´shooting´ trying to quess where the partner´s ships are. Hope your students like it!:) 

FUTURE SIMPLE - Battleship

This is a simple worksheet to practise WILL for predictions. First ask students to describe how they see the future answering the questions provided. Then ask them to write 3 additional questions for their partner or any other person in the class they might feel like asking these questions. Though the activity is quite simple it is usually a success, because students love to share their views on the future of the humanity.

Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
