Say, Tell or Ask?

A worksheet to help students understand the difference in meaning between words such as 'exciting' and 'excited'. Students choose the correct word, then ask each other the questions. The aim is to practise using the correct -ed or -ing ending while also getting some good conversation practice and learning about their classmates. Hope you find it useful!

A lot of my students have a hard time with "get" collocations. I pre-teach these (and a few others), give examples, and then have them interview each other. After, I do a ball toss and ask students to share one or two sentences about the person they talked to.

Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
