Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

A reading comprehension activity that aims at describing some students in a class. It practises adjectives of description and the interests.

The pictures can also be used to describe more details about the students such as their appearance or to write comparative sentences about them.

Thsi is a reading activity. Students match the passages that describe unusual homes to the pictures shown above them. Then they underline the comparative adjectives they find in the passages. Finally they complete the charts below to revise the different forms of the comparative. Key provided.

UNUSUAL HOMES - COMPARATIVE

Two exercises that aim at learning or revising the comparative forms of the adjectives. The first exercise tells the story of the kraken and the second compares the kraken with another mythological animal.

THIS IS NICK'S LIFE

A1 listening activity. Students listen to a couple who want to buy a new flats and they have to decide which one. It can be used to revise the comparative adjectives. Key, script, audio file and QR provided.

COMPARING FLATS

Enable learners to form comparative of adjectives, through restaurants ads. The learners will interpret the ads and do the planned tasks. They' learn comparatives of short, long and even irregular comparative as practice task, as they'll spot mistakes in the use of the comparative while reading a passage.

This is a grammer exercise that I use in conjuction with fake news. Students look at the image and compare the data using the comparitive and superlative and extra comparing and contrasting vocab.

Conspiracy Theories



Print the images and give to students to work in pairs and make comparisons using the vocabulary given in the 1st. page. If you like you can have a competition among groups to see who defends best his/her product, using comparative arguments.

I used with my students as a Wrap up and as a competition; they really loved to defend their ideas.
