A worksheet for multiple uses: pairs of basic adjectives.  The task is to match the opposites. Good to play memo games. It can be also used as a bingo chart. It's a good idea to laminate them-they are more durable ;)

Find the correct opposites from the box for these words and write them down.





Opposites

In small groups, one of the students takes a card and has to say words related to the category (For example, if the card says "Things that are white", the student can say words like ghost, milk, snow, etc). The other students will have to find out the category. It is a good and funny way to revise vocabulary.

Basic, no-frills WS:) Commonly used adjectives defined by their antonyms - may be used as a review or a warm up (individually or in small group). Depending on the students' level you may turn it into a race or allow the use of dictionaries.

This is the first part of three of a review of basic grammar and vocabulary at the A Level. It can be used as a teacher guide or to check students at the end of the year to see how well they recall the material.

Level A: Part One Basic Vocabulary & Grammar

This is an exercise to be done in pairs or for use with single students. Instruct students to join the opposite extreme adjectives on the worksheet. If in class, you can have an answer feedback session for 5-10 minutes with individual students or pairs taking turns/ competing to answer.

- A further activity can be added where students or pairs must make up a sentence using both extreme adjectives.
