Listening exercise for practising past simple and past continuous

For use as a conversation class on the topic of complaining. It includes vocab items, conversation questions and role play exercises. It is intented to encourage general conversation for pre-intermediate/intermediate students.

This is a lesson I made for an IELTS reading and vocabulary lesson with some A2/B1 high school students. The aim is to increase their lexicon through the use of reading materials. The students are currently choosing the topics that they wish to read about and I am making the stories using AI and online resources. In addition to this lesson, I also made quizzes on Google Sheets. There are some Wordwall activities on the slides.
For these slides, you will need to download and install the Calaveras and Salsa fonts. These can be found on various websites and downloaded for free. 

The Day of the Dead

This is an amazing speaking activity for intermediate and upper-intermediate level students. You will find picture description, new vocabulary, Agree/Disagree phrases and statements to discuss.

Good and Bad Manners

This lesson has a short video opener with an SNL skit about underage drinking. Then, there are several discussion questions about drinking, drinking age, and regulations, etc. It also has several colloquial vocabulary terms used to talk about drinking alcohol (USA English) paired with gifs to show the idea. It ends with a wrap-up to recall new vocab. 

For ADULTS (of course!) and better for B2+ learners.

Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
