First, we begin with a bit of vocabulary to express how you like something over another. Then, vocabulary to express your opinion in a more elaborated speech and also be able to debate with another partner.

Expressing opinion

A slightly absurd debating activity.  Set a two-minute timer on the board or on your phone, place students in a two rows facing each and run like a speed dating activity.   

2 minute debates

This is a power point presentation for Elementary and Pre-intermediate students. Students see the different slides and speak about what they can see in the images. I use it on Dec 20 to talk about Children's Rights. Students learn and use lots of vocabulary they already know or learn about the differences between the first and the third world using the verbs: To Be and To Have Got.

When debating it is important to be able to support our arguments, for that we need evidence.  Let's see what types of evidence there are and how to use them during a debate.

The topic of the lesson is 'Writing a diary'.

Students read a diary entry and get to know some commonly used phrasal verbs, do some topic related exercises and then practice their speaking and writing skills using the target language of the class.

The class should be easily understandable for a teacher to lead as it has clear instructions on what to do.

Some basics on critical reading of news and social media posts.  The dialog contains some sentiments that may come off as anti-Trump.  The verbs addressed are To Believe and To Believe in.  The photo is of a notable fake news post from the 2016 election.

Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
