This PPT is created to help learners with the pronunciation of the ending -s in plural nouns and third-person singular verbs. As we have 3 different sounds of the -s at the end of words: sound [z], sound [iz] and sound [s]

Pronunciation of -s s plurals and 3rd person singular

Vowel sounds come in two varieties: long vowels and short vowels. When it comes to decoding words, beginning readers most frequently start with short vowels—specifically Short A and Short I. This is because they are not only the most common vowel sounds, but they are also the short vowels with the fewest spelling variations.

The Short I sound in phonics (ĭ) is formed by relaxing the lips and placing the front area of the tongue in the central/upper area of the mouth

Learners taking the C1 Advanced exam should be able to: Express ideas fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. Use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts. Produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, using linking phrases (=words that connect ideas between sentences). Main grammar points to know: inversion, mixed conditionals, modals in the past, all passive forms, phrasal verbs (all patterns), wish/if only for regrets

Learners who can smoothly communicate in every walk of life, read long texts and write well

Learners taking the C2 Proficient exam should be able to:<ul><li>Understand almost everything read or heard with ease.</li><li>Summarize information from a variety of sources into a coherent presentation.</li><li>Express themselves using precise meaning in complex scenarios.</li><li>Can express him/herself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in the most complex situations</li></ul>
