This practice activity is based on the American English File Unit 4a and 4b grammar section.  Students must distinguish whether or not they should use First or Second Conditional based on prompt cards.  This can be done in pairs or as a class mixer, where each student is given one card and then mingle with others.



First Conditional Use:  to express real possibilities in the future/explain/give reason



Second Conditional use;  to express unreal/highly unlikely situations in the present/future/give advice



This activity also touches on until/unless and wish.
