This is a Snakes and Ladders board game to learn the changing of verb in simple past tense. Teacher can use this board, a dice ang flash cards about the verbs in the simple past tense.

Fill the gaps exercise on Past Simple using the lyrics of Perfect by Ed Sheeran. All Past Simple (and a Past Perfect) are removed from the text so students will practice this tense. Most of the verbs are irregular

The dog, the lion and the monkey

Students get a paper for a student A or B and prepare questions. After preparing and checking questions (with you or with some other student from the same group), they ask a student with a different paper the questions to fill in the gaps in the text. They should fold the paper and look at the questions only if they need some "help".

Hypothetical Conversation Questions

This Battleship game is for practising all tenses. One grid is for your ships and the other one for your opponent's ships. 
 You have to draw 5 ships: 6, 5, 4, 3 and 2 squares in any direction. Taking turns, the players should say a sentence from the left in the tense they want in order to find the other player's ships.

Group or pair work. This activity was designed to be used as speaking practice, but can also be adapted for writing.
Each card has a different situation where an obligation needs to be expressed using ‘must’ or ‘have to’.
Students take turns picking a card and creating sentences with "must" or "have to." For example: "You have a big exam tomorrow." → "I must study hard tonight." / "I have to study for the exam tomorrow."
Encourage them to explain why they used "must" or "have to" for each scenario.

To make it harder, students could also create sentences with “mustn’t” or “don’t have to”.
